The peaceful sound of your skis moving through the light snow as you ascend under your own steam to enjoy an incredible descent. Ski-touring can be a very rewarding way to enjoy the mountains and fresh powder snow. (The points earned to gloat over the full day heli-skiers is just another benefit!).
We offer backcountry ski tour packages which include a heli lift at the beginning of the day and a pickup at the end of the day to deliver you back to the lodge. This is a great way to experience the same incredible terrain in a more peaceful and rewarding way. It also works out much more economical as the heli-time is reduced.
4 Days Backcountry Ski/Boarding Program
USD 3,850.00/skier (price based on 4 people).
This includes 3 hours flight time (1.5 guaranteed).
7 Days Backcountry Heli Ski/Boarding Mixed Program

If you are coming heliskiing with us this winter and there are people in your group who are not skiers (they deserve to have fun too!) then we have lots of options available! As Puma Lodge is only at 1325 metres altitude there are many days during the winter when it is warm enough to be outside enjoying the incredible local landscape.
Horse-riding
When the weather is right, its such a great feeling to be out exploring the Andes landscape on horseback. There are some stunning routes to explore and it is a fantastic authentic way to enjoy the local area, before returning to the lodge to sit by the fire and enjoy a warm drink.
Wine-tasting
We wil be offering wine-tasting sessions inside the lodge as we have an extensive wine cellar and tasting room to enjoy. There are also some beautiful local vineyards to visit which are only a couple of hours away.
Relax in the SPA
Why not make the most of our world-class SPA facilities. We have 2 masseuses working full time to offer various massage and other therapies. You can also benefit from a steam room and our wood-fired outdoor hot tubs.

Trekking
We have a great selection of hiking paths to get you out and about into the hills. These vary from gentle paths which meander round the lodge and nearby river to more challenging day treks which get you up higher with some incredible views of the 3 valleys. When the snow reaches down to lodge level we can offer trekking with snowshoes.
Climbing
We have some excellent climbing routes located near the lodge for all levels of climbers. We also now have a fantastic climbing wall located in the lodge itself. Our guides are on hand to equip and teach you and you’ll be scampering about the wall and rock faces in no time!

We understand that it may be quite a long trip for some of you to come and visit us in the Chilean Andes. Therefore, it makes sense to see some more of this amazing country while you re here. We have selected 3 incredible places to visit, including some suggestions of things to do and how to get there.

As the 2011 Austral heli ski season fades into a spectacular sunset, I would like to thank those who made our first season a tremendous success. The guests who patiently awaited the snow and the completion of the lodge were not disappointed. The snow that was offered up was perfect powder, complete with bright blue skies and stunning sunshine. The grandeur of Puma Lodge showed that indeed it was worth the wait.
I would also like to thank all of our staff, who went that extra mile to ensure the guests a welcoming, memorable experience.
If you are passionate about powder, dream about deep Champagne snow and want to be one of the first to ski virgin terrain, then imagine skiing or boarding in the powder capital of the Andes.
The countdown has already begun for our next season and I would personally like to invite you to join us in 2012.

Hi Skiers,
We have had an amazing month of exceptional powder skiing in the Puma Lodge Heli ski district! We were the only Heli ski business in the southern hemisphere to be operating and providing our skier groups with excellent deep powder snow conditions as early as the first week in July. We continue to build on the legacy of providing the very best Heli ski conditions and operation available in the southern hemisphere with exceptionally deep, cold, dry powder right through to the end of July. Hi Skiers,
We have had a great first few days powder skiing and working at the Puma Lodge district over the past weekend. Our pre season guides training was excellent with very good skiing conditions on a significant snow pack after the past 10 days of storming.
Throughout our district we recorded between 260 & 290 cm for our base, with approximately 190-230cm of that being delivered during the most recent storms I mentioned in my previous update of June 11th. These conditions were found to be consistent throughout our district.
Glaciers especially in our southern area, are also filling in very well for this early in the season and in fact had no wind effect what so ever even up to 4600m! Incredible!!
If you would like to view a few photos taken during our work from these past few days or further details from the pre season guides training, please send me a note and I will respond to you more fully.
Looking forward to more new snow later this week possibly on Thursday!
Great skiing!
Kind regards
Mark
